Travel Diary, Ilocos: What's in Laoag and La Preciosa?

So, I have mentioned on my previous post that most of my Pilipinas escapades would be with my mom and in Ilocos. So one time, I asked my mom to accompany me to Pagudpud overnight but due to unforseen events in Paoay, she chose to stay in Paoay and I went to Pagudpud alone. A bit fine but hoping mum's with me because I want to treat her since she told me that she haven't been to Pagudpud. A lot of locals are like that they've been to different places but haven't really explored their hometown that much.

Before I headed to Pagudpud I transited in Laoag. From Paoay I rode a jeep to Laoag and explored the city. The weather was hot and so am I. (Hahaha!!!)

Before I went to Laoag, I spoke with Ilocano friends on where to go and what to do. Roaming around the city is easy. Every highlight of your tour are all in one place. I bet you'll get used to this place once your here.

AURORA PARK
Address: National Highway, Brgy. 14, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte

The park is facing the city capitol's entrance. This is where the Tobacco Monopoly Monument erected. Since that day was really hot even if this area is a good place for tambayan I opted to walk around and went to the church which is a few steps away from this park.

Because I have no time to waste and because I still need to travel to Pagudpud, I kept on walking under the heat of the sun and found the famous church of Laoag.

ST. WILLIAM'S CATHEDRAL AND THE SINKING BELL TOWER
Address: Brgy. 14, Lungsod ng Laoag, Hilagang Ilokos

St. William's Cathedral was run by Augustinian friars. It is popularly called as Laoag Church which is also famous for it's sinking bell tower.

The tower is outside the Laoag Church. It is said to be that the belltower sink 1 inch every year. So, do not forget to take your pictures when your here. You'll never know what you will miss someday. ;)

MUSEO ILOCOS NORTE
Address: V. Llanes, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

I came to this place after my Pagudpud travel since it's just near the jeepney terminal going back to Paoay. I took the opportunity to see this place for myself and add more knowledge about Ilokano culture and history. You may want to see this place too. It's highly recommended for those who

This That and Those.

It was all "I remember it was like that in Ilocos when I was 10 year old or younger." Every house that I visited during that time had this thing or that thing or one of the lolo's or lola's wore that. Hmm.. I do not know, it was all nostalgic.

LA PRECIOSA
Address: J.P. Rizal Street, Laoag City, 2900 Ilocos Norte
Telephone Number: (077) 773-1162

The precious La Preciosa is the restaurant that was recommended by my Ilocano friend, Raph. So even if it was not open yet when I arrived, I stayed and waited just to taste the Bagbet. I've also heard that the Carrot Cake is their best seller. So keep that in mind because I haven' tasted that when I was there. Bagbet is fine with me during that time.

Cakes that I will taste when I come back and I will share with whoever's joining me next time.

Bagbet just for me. Yum!!!

And because it was a solo travel and I have no one to share with me my Bagbet. It's all fine. It was like a treat for all the waiting and for discovering for more of Ilocos. Mangan Tayun!
