Somewhere in Vietnam
Xin Ciao!
Not all of you know but do you know? Haha! Just Kidding! (That's what my students would normally say.) I am now here in Vietnam for 3 months now. I am currently in Vinh Yen, Vinh Phuc Province and it is an hour away from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. I am here for work - I've been dreaming of traveling with a purpose so I took up TESOL to teach English as a secondary language to non English speakers. Every details of this trip prior to going here in VN was planned that includes looking for a job, where to stay, what's need to accomplish before going here. It was really a lot of sacrifices and a lot of things I need to dealt with. By the way, all throughout the planning stage up until now I am very lucky that I am with my good friend, Madhel, whom I consider as my little sister. She's my family. Although she is in Hanoi, I would sometimes visit her or we would plan to go to other place like Bangkok.
So, before giving you the details of the Bangkok Trip. I will provide you information about Vietnam first, particularly Hanoi. Within our 3 month stay, we already built friendship with Vietnamese and met Filipinos (particularly teachers) as well. You know, it was a struggle for me to search for a job during the first month and I was already planning that time to go on backpacking South Vietnam alone especially when Madhel and I met a Vietnamese traveler, Hui from Nah Trang and he's offering his place if I want to go there. This guy is one of the coolest Vietnamese I've met. His offer was hard to resist especially when you're getting emotional of not getting the job yet. But as they say, everything will fall into place.
A lot of things happened 3 months after. It was a fast paced event that during my time of dilemma the person who would like to hire me fetch me in my hostel where I was staying I do not know what will happen then but I was just thinking of getting a job wherever Apo (God) will lead me to. It was a "bahala na" decision when my soon to be boss (that time) told me : "If you are ok with the offer, I can pick you up in Hanoi." Then I just said "Yes". Unsure of where to go. It led me to people where I could practiced my teaching skill and at the same time taught me about Vietnam, compassion and diversity.
I am somewhere in Vietnam now and where I am is not really a popular place. Soon you will know more about Vinh Yen. I will also write more about Vietnam especially the north part and yes, I will not forget to write about my Bangkok - Ayutthaya trip during my visa run. There's more I am going to share for you as I experience culture, tradition, lifestyle in this country where my passion for diversity is being tested and seeing the beauty of it regardless of complexities.
Cam on da tin!
( Thank you for believing)
