A Spoiled Brat Sister's Visit: Taiwan

Going to Taiwan is not really part of most people’s bucket list but I do not have a bucket list anyway – For me, anywhere is fine. I wanted to go to Taiwan for one simple reason and that is to see my sister who works there.

Taiwan is 2 hour plane ride from Manila but unlike Hong Kong or Macau. You have to acquire VISA through Taiwan Embassy in RCBC before the entry, not unless you have a valid visas or permanent resident cards of USA, Canada, Japan, UK, EU Schengen, Australia and New Zealand. (If you need me to help you with this process, let me know.)

Kulet and I are really close. Leaving Philippines for work in Taiwan is one of the craziest decision she made – Haha! Kidding aside, working away from home taught her a lot of things which made my family very proud of her. Although Taiwan is near Philippines we miss her a lot. This is the reason why my heart melts for every OFW family. It was through her that I’ve learned more about Taiwan more than being a fan of Jerry Yan and Barbie Hsu / Meteor Garden Taiwan I’ve become more interested in this country because of her.  After years of staying in Taiwan my sister learned how to deal with her new environment and did I say she now speaks Mandarin? So when I went there she became my official spokesperson. Hehe! And because I am a spoiled brat sister most of the tours were all her treat. I am lucky to have her. To be with her for 3 days is enough for our sister bonding.

It was winter when I visited Taiwan. February to be exact. Nope not the kind of winter you’re thinking. No thick ice along the road but we saw snow drops in Jiufen. I saw pink cherry blossoms in Chiang Kai Shek and it was cold enough to wear winter clothes. I was glad my sister bought winter clothes and shoes for me. For the next entries, I will be posting my Taiwan Experience with her.

Xie Xie!
