The Sweetest Sandbar: Kalanggaman Island
I've seen Kalanggaman Island through pictures before and really, I thought it would just be a dream for me "to be there." It was 7 years ago and I am not really sure how I could get information on how to reach the island. The island is located in the middle of Leyte and Cebu. You just could not imagine how confused I was. (confuse like this entry) But as the years passed it became famous and my friend slash office little sister, Mitch, who's hometown is in Leyte haven't been to Kalanggaman yet. Until this travel happened. With the help of technology and Mitch it all became possible to visit Kalanggaman. The original plan of Samar and Leyte includes Kalanggaman Island and yup, we kept Kalanggaman Island to our list even if our travel changed Cebu bound.
How to get there:
If you're coming from Cebu:
*From Malapascua Island, they're offering tours to Kalanggaman Island including lunch for entire day.
What we did was, we customize our tour since we will be travelling directly to Maya Port from Kalanggaman. If you're up to customizing tours, you may hire a bangka.
*Another option is through Bogo Port, same route when you travel from Cebu airport. North Bus Terminal then look for van bound to Maya but ask the driver to drop you off at Bogo Port.
*From Cebu Airport go to Pier 3 then take a Supercat bound to Ormoc then Kalanggaman Island.
If you're coming from Leyte.
*From Tacloban Airport ride a van going to Palompon which would take 4 hours. From Palompon ride a bike called Potpot going to Liberty Park from there you can take a boat ride to Kalanggaman Island.
