Bangkok: The Return of Jajamon
I was blatant to tell that Bangkok was not my favorite tourist spot. It was my least from my selection when asked what city I would like to visit in Asia. So I have a lot of conversations with fellow travelers some of them were in love with Bangkok and I was like - WHY?
I've visited BKK before, it was 2013. I was with three of my college friends; Rish, Joyce and Mha.
It was fun just being with them, we've visited numerous temples and it was alright but I was not really a fan. We only stayed there for three days which I think was not enough to judge Bangkok or Thailand for some reasons. That time I was not really impressed especially that we went after that to Siem Reap wherein I was really in awe just seeing the Angkor Wat alone. I know I was biased but according to my traveler friends they told me Bangkok maybe not for me but I might appreciate Chiang Mai or Phuket more. After a couple of years I still haven't been to Chiang Mai and I was supposed to visit Phuket but I decided not to join Allie and Marnie, my office friends, because I chose to study TESOL and focus on studying at that time. (Because I was a good student.)
So here I am already in Viet Nam and last September I needed to do an exit to renew my visa. It was in time for Mid Autumn Festival so my employer asked me to exit during the holiday for me to have time to explore the city I wished to do the visa run. It was my choice and for some reasons I chose - Bangkok.
I chose Bangkok because we found the cheapest flight going there. I chose Bangkok because I want to give Bangkok a second chance (like One More Chance maybe?). I chose Bangkok because having a plus size body it was difficult for me to buy clothes in Viet Nam and it's easier in BKK. I chose Bangkok because I just want to eat pad thai and that's one thing I could not forget Bangkok for.
So I asked Madhel if she would like to join me in going to Bangkok since we have the same expiration date for the visa. After few days of planning and booking accommodation and deciding what to do in Bangkok - we flew.
And because I was in charged of planning. Most of the decisions were mine and because I've been to Bangkok before most of the places that I chose were places I haven't visited before.
So in the next few posts, you will see different places that we went to during our four days of stay. These might help you if you are not really a fan of this city. There is this culture of Bangkok that you might appreciate if you just dig deeper into it. I realized that traveling can let you see the different side of you and Bangkok taught me that.
So I know a lot of you love Bangkok so much, I've heard a lot of stories from my friends and fellow travelers of why they like it. I found reasons how to love it the time that I return. But how about you? Did you fell in love the first time? Can you enlighten me why a lot of people could not stop from going to this city and mind you they've been to this place multiple times. They keep coming back like as if it's their home. Hmm... Maybe for some Bangkok is home.
