Filipino Art: Alkaff Bridge in Singapore

Today, I read a post to one of the newbie travelers on Facebook on one of the Filipino travel pages. She said, she will travel to Singapore, and if there should be a tourist spot in her itinerary that she should include in it. I immediately commented - Alkaff Bridge.

I understand that we all have our own ways of touring. And I guess there are a lot of highlights that Singapore could offer and more picturesque places to post on social platforms. But, I am hoping that through this blog, I would be able to give a boost to this place in Singapore that is very Filipino and should be given attention to.

The Alkaff Bridge is a pedestrian bridge located in Robertson Quay. The design of this bridge was painted by our very own Pacita Abad, who was from Batanes. I remember posting about her and Batanes before Batanes + Singapore, when I visited Batanes in 2014.

Unfortunately, I was not able to post my first Singapore travel because it was prior to creating this blog. Now I know, I could always do a throwback post. (Haha!)

My first visit to SG was in 2010. I was with Irish, one of my travel buddies. It was also my first out-of-the-country experience. I remembered to include Alkaff Bridge in our to-go-to places simply because I've learned about it beforehand. Anything that is Filipino for me, is something that's worth considering paying a visit to.

And how can you not miss this one?
The art itself was the gift of Pacita to Singapore. It was considered by Singpore as "The First Bridge of Art". With its colorful creation, this place is IG-worthy.

If you are a Filipino patriotic, into art, or like visually appealing places or stuff, just like me, below is the guide on how you could reach Pacita Abad's painted bridge.
