More of Korea: Bukchon Hanok Village and National Folk Museum of Korea
As I've mentioned before, aside from Tapgol Park and Cheonggyecheon Stream therea are other attractions that are considered as free in Seoul. Two more tourist spots are Bukchon Hanok Village and National Folk Museum.
Bukchon Hanok Village
Line 3 Anguk Station, Exit 2. 10 minute walk
Sheena would really like to visit this place. (I am too!) You know there's a lot of things to do around Seoul and within 7 days of stay I guess it's just really not enough. After we visited Changdeokgung Palace, we went straight ahead to this village with our new found friend from Manila, Rowe.
It was already dawn but since Bukchon is also near our place in Hyewha we decided to squeeze in our time.
This place is known for filming location for movies and television dramas. I suggest that you get the brochure that can be found from different streets or look for the tourist booth to see the known spot for pictorial purposes.
Bukchon's Eight Views:
1. Panoramic view of Changdeokgung Palace.
2. Wonseo-dong Gongbang-gil
3. 11 Gahoe-dong area
4. Hillside area at 31 Gahoe-dong
5. Downward alley in Gahoe-dong
6. Upward alley in Gahoe-dong
7. 31 Gahoe-dong
8. Stone steps in Samcheong-dong
We found #5 and #6
Please be reminded that these houses are residential so please lower down your voice when you're in this area.
National Folk Museum
Line 3 Gyeongbokgung Station, Exit 5. 5 minute walk.
Although this museum can be accesed through the Gyeongbokgung Palace. There is also a separate gate if you wish not to go to the palace.
You want to know more about Korea's History then this is the place to be. It sums up all of what you want to know about Korea.
National Folk Museum Building
Reminded me of the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall in Taipei.
