Art of Seoul: Insadong
We we're looking for money changer and we were advised by Angelica to head to Myeongdong because it was Sunday and bank were closed but we have no plans of going to Myeongdong until my friend, Jm arrives. Jm will come from Malaysia and she will be staying in Myeongdong area. She will spend time with us for a day and a half before we go back to the Philippines. So, instead of going to Myeongdong, Angelica directed us to Insadong which is a 10 - 15 minute bus ride from our place. Bus #272. We got off at Anguk Station and cross the street to reach Insadong.
Insadong is considered as the art center of Seoul. I went here twice. One with Sheena and the other one was when Sheena and I were separated when we went to Sokcho, I went here after. Among the places in Seoul, I consider this as my haven. You all know how much I love arts. One of my friends, Pat, recommended this place. I know you will love Insadong too. Aside from searching for the money changer, we scouted the area. This area is famous for antique, stuff that's hard to find and unique souvenirs. We got to try our first rice cake here while listening to one of the street performers. Oh by the way, when I was passing by this area during my me-time, I've encountered this woman who sings very well. She caught my attention when she sung the song of Edith Piaf's La vie en Rose. It was too dramatic because winter was coming that night. It was a perfect setting.
What we found in Insadong?
Do not be afraid to enter different alleys. This place is full of surprises.
The Ssamzie-gil is a 4 storey building. You'll find a lot of stuff here.
We found Alife Design. This store is for travelers. Sheena bought her camera strap in this store. Alife Design can be found to a lot of areas in Seoul but they've got more options here in Insadong.
Hello Kitty Kitty.
Do not skip the top part of Ssamzie-gil. This is where you will see the Namsan Tower version of love locks.
This place serve as a gallery too.
Eating while listening to music live?
Mind you, these performers are not just performers per se. Most of those that I've encountered were opera singers.
I found this cone in Market Market, Taguig but theirs are longer.
Ice Cream anyone? Just the ice cream guys.
We also found a performance at the end of the street of Insadong. It was a play that I was not really sure what it was about since it was narrated in Korean. Although they were speaking in Korean. We we're entertained by their act. What so nice about the performance was they kept their audience engaged. Yes even foreigners became part of the story. Everyone were laughing.

Hi Nabila!
DeleteThere is a Money Changer in Insadong near the entrance (Tapgol Park) but I cannot really tell if they changed better than the Money Changers in Myeongdong. Our place is near Insadong and it was weekend so we were so lucky enough that it was open that time.
