Why Himeji Castle is also called White Heron?

It was raining when we went to Himeji. Cathy and I were supposed to visit Narra or Kobe. We were having a hard time deciding which place to explore in one day. Didn't I tell you that 7 days in Japan is not enough? So if you really want to dig deeper into knowing their culture or one place, focus on one Perfecture if you have few days of stay.

We decided to go to Himeji for Himeji Castle.
There's a lot of UNESCO Heritage sites in Narra but Himeji Castle - is Himeji Castle. 😊 The beauty of the castle from the photos is really breathtaking but when we went there, from the moment that we saw the castle from the train station with all that raining and the visibility that was created by the moist, it was a decision that made us feel that it's the best feeling ever. Yes, like falling in love.

We were lucky to experience the Himeji Castle Loop Bus. It has the same charge as the ordinary bus but you may opt for a 15 minute walk from the train station.

Himeji Castle
It is called as the White Heron Castle because of it's elegance and appearance.
The castle is considered as UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Treasure of Japan.

What I like about Himeji Castle is the experience of walking barefeet and climbing the rooftop. Do not wear socks and be grounded and you will be connected to Japan's past.

From the castle, Cathy and I decided to walk and found Cafe de Miki near the train station but all we did was to take photos from outside. Who knows? Maybe I will be back in this place.

It's not all that. On our way back to Osaka we met these two lovely girls who study in Himeji, Shion and Mimoka. I want to include them here as they made this travel to Himeji complete. We became friends from then on and it was really nice to converse with these new generations of Japanese.

So long and until we meet again!
Matane!
